Just for Kids of Utah County
Just for Kids of Utah County is a grassroots organization created by a group of concerned parents wanting to provide for the needs of their children with disabilities. Parents knew their children needed the consistency of a year round school program. Because of that need, the first phase was to start the Just For Kids Summer School Program.
The second phase was to create JFK Athletics, an adaptive sports program, in conjunction with Lehi City. JFK Athletics now serves approximately 300 athletes and unified partners. Currently participants can compete in swimming, basketball, volleyball and bowling. The athletes and teams from the northern Utah County area have been involved in local tournaments as well as state, national and world competitions.
The third phase was to create a program to support adults with disabilities whose educational, social and recreational needs could not be totally met by parents and family. The HIVEs program helps support families in meeting those needs in an affordable manner while giving opportunities for independence to adult participants. HIVEs stands for Habilitation, Independence, Vocation, Education and socialization.
